Why collage?

I explore memory through layered color and image.  Discarded photos, old text, bits of paper, old fabric: I stamp, print, rip and rearrange. Rhythms emerge. Time alters our inner world, as seasons and  seismic shifts alter the earth’s landscape. Rip, stitch, glue, paint. The layers build; editing reiterates, until a piece is done.

Ours is the age of eroding boundaries. Evolution births stronger forms.  I love stitched line. I love the painted mark.  Dye, paint, stitch, glue: whatever works, I’ll use.
